Second shows in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York city have been added to accommodate the surge in sales. Chicago’s second gig is already sold out though. McCartney’s schedule has room for a third to be added, although that has not been announced yet.

“Maccamania is rocking America,” Brad Wavra, VP for Clear Channel Touring, said. “Nearly 200,000 tickets sold for 14 shows in minutes. McCartney fans have spoken and they’ve spoken quickly.”

John Meglen, CEO for Concerts West, promoters for some of the McCartney shows, said “We haven’t seen ticket sales like this in quite sometime. It’s evident that Paul McCartney means as much to music fans today as in years past.”

The drive begins April 1 in Oakland – not Los Angeles as previously announced – and wraps May 18 in Florida. The tour will include a performance north of the border at the Air Canada Center in Toronto and two-night stands in Las Vegas, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York.
