Said Don Mischer, executive producer for the opening and closing ceremonies, “We looked for artists that have agreed to put themselves in the Olympic context and perform music that helps us in terms of what we’re doing on the field.”

“We are very careful in how artists weave into the show.”

The February 8 event, to be held at the Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium in Salt Lake City, is nearly sold out. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the pre-show begins at 6 p.m.
