In addition to the ticket sales donations, Roc-A-Wear is designing a shirt which will be available in retail stores, with proceeds going to help out the American Red Cross, Hip Hop Has Heart, and NYFD. The artist himself has donated $45,000.

“I feel that we all have to support each other in such trying times,” the rapper said. “I’m happy that I am in a position to help. This tour is now not just in support of my new album, but I hope it helps people come together and celebrate the freedom we have in the United States.”

Unlike 1999’s Hard Knock Life package outing, which was a major arena effort, this time Jay-Z is opting for smaller venues (1,500-4,000 capacity). Joining him are Roc-A-Fella family members Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek and Freeway. Jay and family started out September 19 and will be on the road through October 13.

Jay-Z’s newest album, The Blueprint, was released in September.
