Saying No To Uncle Kracker
Kid Rock protegee Uncle Kracker has been dropped from Binghamton, N.Y.’s Spiedie Fest Balloon Rally. He was scheduled to be the headlining act for the family event, but was axed due to the explicit nature of his lyrics.
The community protested Kracker’s performance because of his lyrical content, which warranted a parental advisory label on his CD.
Although Uncle Kracker – stage name for Matt Shafer – promised to present “clean” versions of his songs, the board of directors and the planning committee for the event ultimately decided to ax his show.
Event coordinator Davie Pessagno said Kracker was understanding of the decision and even forgave the $5,000 owed to him, as it was a charitable event.
Other artists scheduled to preform are The Badlees, Billy Crawford, Kaci, Spinkill, and Yankee Grey. The new headliner is expected to be announced shortly.
