Kirkersville, Ohio, will become Hookahville come Memorial Day weekend, as the Ekoostik Hookah-hosted event brings Willie Nelson, Dr. John, The Radiators, Donna The Buffalo, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band together for the “no hassles or bad attitudes” campout.

The festival site itself is at the Frontier Ranch, about 40 miles northeast of Columbus – a switch from recent Hookahvilles held at Buckeye Lake Music Center.

The festival had its humble beginnings in 1994, as a backyard party thrown by Ekoostik Hookah keyboardist/vocalist David Katz and has grown in size and stature steadily since.

Last year’s Labor Day edition of the homegrown party attracted a record 15,000-plus festival-goers to Buckeye Lake to take in the mellow vibes with Ekoostik Hookah, Arlo Guthrie, Ratdog, and Grateful Dead collaborator David Grisman.

No doubt the 2001 version will set another attendance record at the new venue; pre-sales have already begun by mail order and on Hookahville’s official Web site, www.hookahville.com,

Weekend passes are a relative steal at $60, including 2 nights of music, on-site camping and parking.
