Dave Matthews, Al Green Pair For Concert Film
In addition to scheduled supports Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals and Ozomatli, soul great Al Green will join Dave onstage at Soldier Field in Chicago to film a special duet for inclusion in IMAX Films’ “All Access,” a behind-the-scenes concert slated to reach theatres in February 2001.
The appearance by Green comes on the second date of DMB’s two-day stand in the Windy City.
The film promises to bring audiences a rare look at the staging of a concert, including rehearsals, sound checks, casual conversations and what goes on backstage, according to IMAX.
“By interspersing these impromptu events in brief, carefully chosen segues between performances, “All Access” will reveal an insider’s view of rock and roll as well as pay homage to the music’s incredible power and spirit in IMAX theatres, eight stories high and with one of the world’s best sound systems,” producers Jon and Peter Shapiro said in press statement.
Most of the concert footage was shot last February at the Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles while many performers were assembled for the Grammy Awards.
Among some of the performances movie-goers will see include duets by Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas, George Clinton and Mary J. Blige, Sting and Cheb Mami, and the Roots with both B.B. King and Trey Anastasio of Phish.
Solo performances have been turned in by Macy Gray, Moby and Kid Rock.
