Eminem Faces Felonies In Detroit Brawl Aftermath
Eminem is charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of assault with a deadly weapon, said Macomb County Prosecutor Carl Marlinga.
The 27-year-old performer, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Warren District Court.
The fight happened about 2:20 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a bar in Warren, the rapper’shometown. Marlinga said Eminem hit John Guerra over the head with a 9mm Smith & Wesson gun after he saw Guerra kissing his wife, Kimberly Mathers, 27. The gun was not loaded, he said.
Kimberly Mathers told the Detroit Free Press her husband “overreacted” to a friendly kiss between friends.
Eminem’s lawyer, Howard Hertz, said his client planned to let the judge enter an innocent plea for him in court Wednesday.
In February, Eminem won a Grammy for best rap album for his debut release, The Slim Shady LP, and another Grammy for best rap solo performance for the hit single “My Name Is.”
