Tickets will go on sale April 29 for most of the 24 dates of the first leg of the tour. The bands plan to visit 50 cities before the road trip ends.

The second leg of the tour runs September 12 through October with stops in the South and West. Watch Pollstar.com for tour dates when they become available.

Frontmen Ed Kowalczyk of Live and Adam Duritz of Counting Crows developed the idea of touring together earlier this year.

“Live is a great band and Ed is a good friend,” Duritz said. “I think the fact that we come from different musical perspectives will make for a really dynamic evening of music.”

Live’s current tour picks up again April 27 and runs through May 21. Violin-wielding Tracy Bonham fills the opening slot and Local H joins the bill on May 3.

Live heads for Europe to play festivals in June and early July while Counting Crows have a few U.S. dates in May before jumping the Pond for the festival season.
