Eagles Set A New Record For Forum Gigs
With the Forum having gone through a $100 million makeover, the Eagles will play the legendary venue and former Lakers home Jan. 15, 17, 18, 22, 24 and 25.
Now the building is sporting what may be one of the biggest tributes any venue has created for a band. It’s a gigantic blow-up of the Eagles’ 1977 multi-platinum release Hotel California that can be seen by passengers on aircraft leaving or arriving at Los Angeles Int’l Airport. The mega-disc will be spinning proudly during the band’s engagement at the Forum. Designed and created by marketing/promotion outfit Pop2Life, the disc is made from more than a quarter-million square feet of printed vinyl and is supported by more than a half mile of aluminum truss. The 407-foot diameter disc spins at 17 m.p.h.
But don’t take our word for it. Not when there’s a nifty video detailing the disc’s construction and operation.
