WOMAD NZ Unveils 10th Anniv. Bill

WOMAD New Zealand celebrates its 10th year in Taranaki with a bill that includes Arrested Development, Tim Finn and Kimbra.

The fest is March 14-16 at New Plymouth’s Brooklands Park and TSB Bowl of Brooklands.

The theme is “dance til you drop,” said artistic director Drew James. International acts on the bill include producer and percussionist Airileke, flamenco-jazz singer Buika, protest singer Emel Mathlouthi, Pokey LaFarge, rising UK folk singer Sam Lee & Friends, fingerpicking guitarist Ane Brun, and reigning prince of Qawwali music Asif Ali Khan.

Others are blues singer Carminho, DJ Yoda, Madrid surf music instrumental quintet Los Coronas, political band Mokoomba, North Indian stylists Red Baraat, and indie folk quartet Shanren (China).

The NZ contingent includes country singer Delaney Davidson, Latin trio Latinaotearoa, political indigenous act Moana & the Tribe, orchestral sounding Waiora, The Bads, and new studio/live DJ project Weird Together.
