Metallica To Rock The Apollo

Metallica will perform at New York City’s world-famous Apollo Theater next month for satellite radio subscribers.  In other words, it’s an invitation-only affair.  That means you’ll have to win tickets to go.

First thing you need to do is lock Sept. 21, Apollo Theater on your personal calendar.  That’s when Metallica will present material from its vast 30-year plus catalog during a concert that will also air live on the band’s limited-run SiriusXM channel, “Mandatory Metallica,” launching Sept. 13.

The concert will take place days before the band’s 3D film, “Metallica Through The Never,” lands in IMAX theaters in North America Sept. 27.  No IMAX in your neighborhood?  Don’t worry, the film will land on regular screens Oct. 4.

As to actually getting into the show, SiriusXM will give listeners chances to score tickets via dedicated listener emails and call-in promotions, not only through Metallica’s channel but across the board and including other music channels as well as sports, talk, etc. SiriusXM subscribers can enter for a chance to win tickets beginning today.  Come Sept. 10 listeners can enter for a trip to the Big Apple.

“With historic performances from James Brown to B.B. King to Ray Charles and all that came before us, this will definitely be a memorable night for Metallica, our fans and those listening on SiriusXM,” said the band’s Kirk Hammett.
