Changes: Chris Brown, Aerosmith, Marianne Faithfull, Wheeler Brothers
Citing Chris Brown’s “recent personal and health-related issues,” Drop Entertainment Group has canceled four
“In the absence of a festival headliner, we cannot proceed,” Drop Entertainment Group owner Stephen Tobin said. “We will start planning immediately for next year’s events and the Energy/Summer Rush series will be back in 2014, bigger and better than ever.”
Brown has had his share of troubles in recent weeks. He recently suffered a seizure and on Friday his probation was reinstated after he was involved in a hit-and-run accident, although a hit-and-run charge was dismissed earlier.
Not only has Aerosmith withdrawn from festivals in Shanghai and Taipei scheduled for Aug. 21 and 24, respectively, but the band laid the blame on the local promoter.
An announcement from Aerosmith’s press machine sees the band canceled its appearances because the promoter was “unable to meet contractual obligations.”
“We are extremely upset to have disappointed our dedicated fans,” Steven Tyler said. “They have welcomed us into their country and due to uncontrollable circumstances we will not be able to perform. We were so excited to share our music with them and look forward to one day returning and giving them the show they deserve.”
Marianne Faithfull sure has a good reason for canceling shows in the U.S and Lebanon. The singer/songwriter broke a bone her back.
The injury occurred last month, reports the BCC which says Faithfull spent four weeks in the hospital. She is currently resting in her home in Paris.
Faithful fractured her sacrum during a vacation last month, reports the BBC, which said she spent four weeks in the hospital and is now resting at her Paris home.
Along with canceling her Aug. 17 gig in Beirut, Faithful scratched solo shows in New York and Chicago as well as an appearance at a tribute concert to Edith Piaf to take place in NYC.
You can forget about seeing the Wheeler Brothers on the West Coast this month. An announcement on the group’s website sez lead singer Nolan Wheeler is dealing with a polyp on his vocal cords and has been ordered to rest.
Affected are shows scheduled for California towns Petaluma (Aug. 20), San Luis Obispo (Aug. 21), Los Angeles (Aug. 22), San Diego (Aug. 23), and Santa Barbara (Aug. 24). The Wheeler Brothers’ next scheduled appearance is Marietta, Ohio, at the Marietta Brewing Company Sept. 12.
