Springsteen Skates On Parking Tickets

Reporting that a photo depicting a constable ticketing one of the vehicles was circulating via social networks, the Independent sez the Leeds City Council has since withdrawn the parking fine.

Doing the Independent one better, Digital Spy U.K. quotes Leeds council Labour leader Keith Wakefield as saying someone apparently took the job of penalizing wayward parkers too seriously.

“It was somebody being a little bit stupid and zealous,” Wakefield said.  “It is an awareness thing.  The lorries are supposed to park off-site and then be called into the arena.”

A spokesman blamed it on opening night problems.

“We accept this is a little embarrassing but the attendant was doing his job – if a little too efficiently ,” the he said, according to Digital Spy.  “These were somewhat unusual circumstances with a very large tour  involving a tight turnaround of vehicles arriving from the previous night’s show in Cardiff on the opening night of a brand new venue,” adding, “Having considered the special circumstances, the tickets were quickly canceled.”

Reports indicate the trucks were parked on a side street when ticketed.
