Dierks Bentley To Headline ‘Country Cares’
They’re not kidding about Bentley making a special trip. Organized by country radio stations KMLE and KAFF, the July 22 show at Tim’s Toyota Center arena in Prescott Valley falls between Bentley’s July 19 appearance at the
“I want to help honor the memory of these 19 brave firefighters, to be part of the healing process for the community and to raise money for the families left behind,” Bentley said. “I was and still am devastated by this tragic event in my home state. I certainly can’t imagine what these families are enduring, but I do believe in the healing power of music and hope as many Arizonans as possible can come out and be part of this event.”
The firefighters were members of the elite Granite Mountain Hotshots based out of Prescott, Ariz. On June 30 high winds caused the fire that threatened the town of Yarnell to change direction, ultimately roaring down onto the firefighters who had deployed their emergency shelters made out of reflective materials. Tragically, the shelters couldn’t protect the men from the intensity of the inferno.
The firefighters were honored July 7 with a procession that transported their bodies via individual white hearses 125 miles through Arizona’s cities and towns as thousands of people stood outside in triple-digit temperatures to pay their respects to the fallen heroes.
With more artists yet to be announced tickets for the Country Cares concert go on sale July 12 with all proceeds going to United Phoenix Firefighter Charities which will distribute the funds directly to the families of the firefighters. Click here for more information.
