One Last Blast For George

What was once promoted as George Jones’ last Nashville gig is being transformed into a tribute to the country legend affectionately known as the “Possum.”  With most of the original lineup still on board, the date and place are still the same – Nov. 22 at Bridgestone Arena.

Jones passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center April 26.  He was 81.

“Everyone has been asking if we will still do the show,” Jones’ wife, Nancy, said.  “I have asked Garth, Kid Rock, Travis Tritt, The Oak Ridge Boys, Montgomery Gentry, Sam Moore, Charlie Daniels, Jamey Johnson and others and they all said, ‘Yes, I am still going to do it’ so with all the artists still planning on coming, we are going to honor George one more time.”

So far, not everyone on the original lineup is set to appear at the show now being called a “Tribute To George Jones” if only because some acts haven’t yet been contacted.  An updated list of confirmed artists will be posted on GeorgeJones.com.
