Dropkick Murphys Book Boston Benefit Concert
To help out the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, Dropkick Murphys has added a special T-shirt to its webstore – and an extra date to its tour schedule. So far, the “For Boston” T-shirts has raised over $150,000. Tickets for the benefit show are on sale now.
The Celtic punk band didn’t waste any time in launching the fundraisers for its hometown. The “For Boston” T-shirt was announced April 17, just two days after the bombings. Three spectators were killed and the Boston Public Health Commission reports 282 injured people were treated in area hospitals, according to the Boston Globe. The suspects are also accused of killing a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer.
The benefit show takes place April 29 at House of Blues Boston. In addition to Dropkick Murphys, the show features State Radio, Big D & The Kids Table, The Parkington Sisters, The Old Brigade and Barroom Heroes.
Tickets for the all-ages daytime matinee show are priced at $25. VIP tickets – including access to the after party – are also available for $100.

All proceeds from the T-shirts and the benefit show will go to the band’s nationally recognized charity, Claddagh Fund, which will then disburse the funds to “victims of the bombings, their families and communities.”
Dropkick Murphy says in a post on Facebook, “Innocent people being hurt by terrorists fits the core of Claddagh’s mission and we are proud to be here, along with you, to be of service to the victims.”
Also, the band has a message for scalpers: “If you resell tickets to the Sunday show for profit you will rot in HELL!!”
Dropkick Murphy’s fundraising efforts for the Boston Marathon victims are described as a three-stage plan. Murphys will reveal “stage three” April 29.
As for the T-shirts, which are priced between $24.99 to $26.99, the deadline to place your order is April 26 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. The shirts will begin shipping next week.
Claddagh Fund was founded by bassist/singer Ken Casey in 2009 with a mission “to raise money for the most underfunded non-profit organizations that support vulnerable populations in our communities.”
