More Noise About The Rolling Stones At Coachella

A few weeks ago the big Rolling Stones rumor was about how Coachella was briefly listed as an upcoming show on the band’s mobile app. Now fans are talking about the big festival in the desert once more thanks to a certain Facebook photo of a giant round stone.

The photo below was posted to Coachella’s Facebook page Jan. 3, with the caption “Happy New Years! We’re excited, hope you are too!”

Hmm. It’s a big stone hanging out in a field, which appears to be the festival grounds at Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. The stone looks like it might have gotten nice and smooth after, I don’t know … maybe *rolling* and tumbling through water. What could it possibly mean?!

As for the April 12 Coachella appearance that showed up on the band’s iPhone app and then quickly disappeared, Mick Jagger told Rolling Stone he doesn’t know how the gig made its way onto the schedule.

In an interview posted online Jan. 4, the frontman told the magazine that he hadn’t been contacted about playing Coachella.

“I always said that we’d see how (the 50th anniversary shows) would go, and then we’d think about doing more – or not.”

Rolling Stone pointed out that if the Stones end up playing Coachella, it will mark the band’s first U.S. festival appearance since the infamous 1969 Altamont Speedway Free Festival.

Coachella is once again scheduled for two consecutive weekends, April 12-14 and April 16-21. The 2013 lineup is expected to be announced soon.

The 2012 edition featured Radiohead, The Black Keys, Pulp, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Arctic Monkeys, Bon Iver, The Shins, David Guetta and Kaskade. And of course you can’t forget the hologram Tupac performing with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
