Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players Book Live Show
Directed by Grohl, “Sound City” is a film about the Van Nuys, Calif., recording studio Sound City Studios. During the 40 years Sound City was open, acts that used the recording studio included Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica and Rage Against The Machine. When the studio was closed in 2011, Grohl purchased Sound City’s custom-built Neve 8028 recording console and was inspired to tell the world the studio’s story.
To celebrate the premiere of the documentary, Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players will play Park City Live Jan. 18. The show takes place during the film festival, which is held Jan. 17-27 in Park City, Utah.
According to an announcement, “the concert will feature core musicians and special guests” from the film.
