What’s Up With Rihanna’s 777 Tour?
Last week Rihanna announced the 777 Tour would feature seven intimate shows in seven days in seven countries, beginning Nov. 14. The singer said she would be traveling aboard a chartered Boeing 777 twinjet and taking along a group of die-hard fans as well as 150 journalists representing 82 countries.
The only hint about the locations was that one of the gigs, which is being co-sponsored by United Kingdom-based fashion brand River Island, would take place in the U.K.
River Island’s Style Insider blog points out that the tour celebrates the release of Rihanna’s seventh album in seven years. Unapologetic is due out Nov. 19. In a post dated Nov. 5, Style Insider says it will give fans the chance to join in on the U.K. leg of the tour, promising to reveal “how you can get your hands on the money-can’t-buy tickets soon.”
The fansite Rihanna Daily has gathered a list of websites and radio stations running contests to give out tickets to all seven 777 Tour shows, as well as airfare and accommodations in the destination cities.
According to The Sun, the destinations are London, Paris, Toronto, Berlin, Paris, Stockholm and New York City. London is allegedly the first stop of the tour.
The tabloid claims that the Boeing 777 will carry 200 people, including her fans and her entourage. A source has apparently told The Sun that Rihanna has requested hundred of bottles of pricey Armand de Brignac champagne and “pledged to get on the loudspeaker during the trip and perform on the plane.”
