Ailing Artists: Vicente Fernández, Lil Wayne & Don Williams

Vicente Fernández is forced to cancel a few dates after doctors found a small lump on his liver, Don Williams has postponed the rest of his 2012 dates due to a bronchial infection, and Lil Wayne is hospitalized for dehydration and a severe migraine.

Vicente Fernández Undergoing Medical Testing
The Mexican ranchera singer is canceling two shows scheduled Nov. 2-3 in Culiacan, Mexico, so he can undergo medical tests.

An announcement on Vicente Fernández’s website says that after a small lump was detected on his liver, he underwent a medical checkup on Tuesday. There is no diagnosis yet and additional medical tests are scheduled for next week. The singer promises that another announcement will be made after the results are released.

Fernández will still perform the three shows scheduled in Texas this weekend: Friday, Oct. 26 in Houston; Saturday, Oct. 27 in San Antonio; and Sunday, Oct. 28 in Dallas. With the exception of the Nov. 2-3 shows, he plans on completing the rest of his farewell tour after that.

Tickets for the shows in Culiacan, Mexico, will be reimbursed at the point of sale where purchased.

“I’m with my family and we hope that next week’s results are very good.Fernández said in a statement. “Thanks to all the people who love me and have prayed for me, their support gives me the strength to keep going.”
   
Don Williams Postpones Tour
Ticketholders hoping to see Don Willams on tour before the end of the year will have to wait until 2013. The country singer has postponed his October and November dates until April and May.

An announcement on the website for the Alberta Bair Theater in Billings, Mont., says the Gentle Giant’s dates are being put on hold due to a bronchial infection. The statement adds that a “representative from Mr. Williams team says that a full recovery is expected, and apologizes to all his fans. Mr. Williams looks forward to resuming his tour very soon.”

Williams was scheduled to perform at the Billings venue Oct. 27. A rescheduled date will be announced in the next few days. Fans can either hold onto their tickets for the rescheduled date or request a refund.

The Oct. 26 show in Ogden, Utah, at the Dee Events Center will now take place May 3. Boise, Idaho’s Oct. 29 gig at the Velma V. Morrison Center For The Performing Arts has been postponed to April 19.

The Helena, Mont., show at Helena Civic Center has been moved from Oct. 30 to May 5. Originally scheduled for Nov. 1, the Casper, Wyo., show at the Casper Events Center is now set for May 6.

A new date is yet to be announced for the show originally scheduled Nov. 1 in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Lil Hospital Stay
Lil Wayne’s representative has sent out a statement assuring fans and the media that the rapper is doing just fine after his brief visit to the hospital on Thursday.

“Lil Wayne was successfully released from the hospital after being treated for a severe migraine and dehydration,” his representative said. “He is at home on doctor-mandated rest and will return to work soon. He appreciates all of his fans for their support and love.”

An initial report from TMZ says that Lil Wayne suffered “seizure-like symptoms on a private jet,” which was forced to make an emergency landing in Texas to get the rapper to a local hospital.

He allegedly checked in to the hospital Thursday afternoon and was released around 6 p.m. local time.

MTV reports that Wayne had to reschedule Saturday’s appearance in Louisville, Ky., in support of his TrukFit clothing line.
