The production deal comes via an alliance between Brian Glazer’s Imagine Entertainment and Jagger’s Jagged Films, the company he co-founded with Victoria Pearman in 1995. Deadline Hollywood reports that the film will be helmed by Tate Taylor who directed and wrote the screenplay for “The Help.”

The role of Brown, often referred to as “the hardest working man in show business” has yet to be cast. Apparently Brown’s family will be involved in the film. Deadline Hollywood quotes Brown’s widow, Tommie Rae Brown, as saying Jagger and Glazer were two of her late husband’s “favorite people.”

Jagger had something to say as well.

“It’s a great honor to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown,” Jagger said. “He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life.”
