Suzanne Vega’s London ‘Solitude’
Yes, it’s been 25 years since Suzanne Vega’s Solitude Standing was released, introducing us to “Luka” as well as acting as an indirect line to UK-based dance group DNA via “Tom’s Diner.” Solitude Standing was Vega’s second album and followed her 1985 self-titled debut.
To celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary, Vega has booked a special one-off evening at London’s Barbican Oct. 16. The plan calls for Vega to perform the album in its entirety along with digging into her catalog for other classics.
In other Vega news, the artist will release volume four of her “Close Up” series featuring re-recordings of her past work. During the past two years Vega has released Close-Up Vol. 1, Love Songs, Close-Up Vol. 2, People & Places and Close-Up Vol. 3, States Of Being. Come September, Vega will release Close-Up Vol. 4, Songs Of Family.
Tickets for Vega’s Barbican evening are on sale now. Click here for more information.
