The band is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its landmark live album – Eat A Peach – by declaring 2012 to be the “Year Of The Peach.”

So far, 2012 is behaving very good toward The Allman Brothers Band. On Feb. 11 the group will receive the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

“It’s shaping up to be a great year,” Allmans co-founder Butch Trucks said. “We just wanted to make music that was honest and play it for friends, which is pretty much what we’ve done. It’s an honor to be able to be recognized like this.”

The band also revealed its annual NYC residency, designating a series of late winter / early spring shows at the Beacon Theatre – March 9-10, 13-14, 16-17, 20-21 & 24-25.

The band will also return to Live Oak, Fla., to host the 8th annual Wanee Festival April 19-21.
