McGraw Wins Curb Battle - Pollstar News

Tim McGraw has won a legal battle in Nashville and is free to record new albums while a contract dispute with his longtime label Curb Records is resolved.

Curb sued McGraw in May, alleging the artist recorded songs for the follow-up to 2009’s Southern Voice too early. McGraw counter-sued one week later, countering that the label had attempted to lock him into a never-ending contract that he’d already completed.

In court, McGraw attorney William Ramsey argued his client should be free to record during legal proceedings, according to The Tennessean. The judge apparently agreed.

Ramsey told the paper all that’s left of the case is the damages portion of the dispute, which will go to trial in July.
