Ozzy Remembers The Alamo

Osbourne’s Alamo incident has grown to almost urban legend proportions.  Concert promoter Greg Wilson told the San Antonio Express-News in 1992 that Ozzy was “super drunk and had a bladder problem.” Ozzy was in town for a gig at the HemisFair Arena.

But Osbourne didn’t exactly wizz on the famous mission where William Travis, James Bowie, Davy Crockett and others attempted to hold off Gen. Santa Anma’s Mexican army in 1836.  Instead, he relieved himself on the Alamo cenotaph, a memorial built to honor the mission’s defenders.

Depending on who’s doing the talking, Osbourne was either banned from the Alamo for life or banned from San Antonio for 10 years.  USA Today notes that he did return to San Antonio in 1992.

But as the old saying goes, “never let the facts interfere with a good story.”  Osbourne is in San Antonio today and word is that he’s going to apologize for his 1982 actions.  However, Osbourne has visited the Alamo several times and has since apologized.

Media reports indicate Osbourne is traveling with his son Jack plus a video crew and that father and son are involved in a project with the History Channel.  The Austin Chronicle says Osbourne & Son are headed to Mount Rushmore and other locations steeped in American history.

The San Antonio Express/MySanAntonio.com reports that Osbourne had entered City Hall shortly before this posting. Who knows?  Perhaps Ozzy will apologize for the tinkle heard around the world.  Again.
