Cash Money Sues Tidal
The co-founder of Cash Money has sued Jay Z’s Tidal in court, claiming the company is illegally streaming songs from Lil Wayne’s latest album.
Tidal is failing at music streaming and is now resorting to “a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service,” the suit says, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Cash Money’s Birdman, or Bryan Williams, is seeking $50 million from Tidal and claims exclusive rights to Lil Wayne’s music, adding that a contract states Wayne doesn’t have the power to license his tunes to anyone else.
Tidal, on the other hand, claims the rapper gave the company rights to stream his music in exchange for a partial ownership stake in Tidal.
