Robbie Williams Asia Canceled

The Asian portion of Robbie Williams‘ Let Me Entertain You Tour was canceled July 13, according to a statement issued by ie:music and Midas Promotions Ltd.

The official reason is “issues outside the artists’ and Live Nation BEC-Tero’s control.” Williams was scheduled to play Beijing, Shanghai, Malaysia and Bangkok in September, and in Singapore in October. The Australian portion of the same tour has not been affected and will go ahead as scheduled. Channel NewsAsia sent a query to the organizer of the concerts to clarify the “issues” made in the statement, and received a reply that stated it is “unable to comment any further” since they “have to follow artist management on their decision.”

However, a spokesman for Williams told the BBC that carrying out the dates “would be asking too much.”

The Shanghai Daily subsequently reported that a statement had been issued to promoters saying that “the stress and exhaustion of the Asian tour, coming so shortly after the end of the European and South American dates, would seriously impact [Williams’] health.”
