Avex’s Thai Team-Up

Thailand’s BEC-Tero Music has entered into a partnership with Japan’s biggest music company, Avex, to handle Avex artists, songs and marketing activities in the Southeast Asian country, according to the Nation website.

Previously, BEC-Tero’s involvement with Avex was limited to distributing content and organizing concerts in Thailand. Paul Manatthaworn, general manager of BEC-Tero Music, said in a statement, “This business partnership is timely and sound, in line with the market uptrend of Asian music and future prospects. The combined reinforcement of Avex’s business specialization in J-rock and J-pop throughout the Asia region, and BEC-Tero’s expertise in providing entertainment content and digital services, will expand the Asian fan base and reach every segment of the market in Thailand.”

Initially, the joint venture will distribute Avex artists in CD and digital formats, but these activities will lead to “new channels” such as meet-and-greet sessions.

The purpose, as Manatthaworn stressed, is for BEC-Tero to become “Thailand’s leading digital content hub operator.” Avex’s roster of artists includes Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, Kumi Koda, EXILE, J Soul Brothers and May J.
