Strong Initial Response To AC/DC Downunder

AC/DC’s upcoming homecoming to Australia met with overwhelming support when tickets went on sale April 20.

More than 300,000 tickets sold in five cities, with four cities sold out in minutes. Promoter Garry Van Egmond added four new dates – the 83,500-capacity  in Sydney Nov. 7, the 48,400-capacity  in Brisbane Nov. 14, the 43,500-capacity Domain Stadium in Perth Nov. 29 and the 53,359-capacity  in Melbourne Dec. 8.

With the original five shows covering 350,000 tickets, these new shows suggest that the final tally could eventually match the record-breaking 700,000 sold for 2010’s Black Ice tour, which Van Egmond booked with Chugg Entertainment.

On that tour, AC/DC set a new record for Australia’s fastest-selling tour. It also established a new attendance record at the ANZ Stadium, pulling 212,729 over three dates.
