$46M Collected For Live Performances
The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) raised A$46 million ($37.7 million) from live performances in the last quarter of 2014.
These were shared by 26,383 member writers for a total of 641,626 works.
A campaign by the associations encouraging young performers to fill in Live Performance Return saw the number of returns rise by 51 percent. In December, a panel at the Electronic Music Conference in Sydney revealed that Australia’s 700 dance-floor made a total of A$7 million ($5.7 million) in performance royalties, spinning 15 tracks per hour at A$1.33 ($1.90) per spin.
