Jamie Cullum Takes ‘Interlude’ On The Road
Interlude is due out in the U.S. Jan. 27. The LP is made up of tunes from the American songbook, such as the title track, which was written by Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Paparelli. Plus, he’s thrown in a couple of “modern surprises.”
Fans who pre-order Interlude via iTunes will instantly receive the track “My One and Only Love” along with the first single, “Good Morning Heartache” (feat. Laura Mvula), and Cullum’s take on “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” (feat. Gregory Porter).
“I just thought Interlude was a perfect title for the album ‘cause this is genuinely my first proper jazz record,” Cullum said.“I can pretend that I’ve made albums like this before, but I haven’t … Names like Alice and John Coltrane, Nina and Billie and Sarah – they’re all touchstones for Interlude.”
After supporting Joel at a few shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Cullum returns to MSG to do another show with the Piano Man Dec. 18. Cullum will help out with another MSG franchise show in January, in addition to gigs in Dallas and Miami.
