Glens Falls Civic Sold
The Coalition to Save Our Civic Center bid $600,000 for the 4,800-seat venue with a promise to pay for two-thirds of the building by spring through local pledges, the Post-Star said.
Adirondack Sports & Entertainment was the only other bidder and had offered $800,000 outright for the civic center.
However the group reportedly failed to meet a city requirement to show a checking account statement or certified letter of credit from a bank as proof that it had sufficient funds to buy the arena and pay property taxes.
The Coalition’s offer foresees the civic center being owned and operated by the nonprofit Hudson River Local Development Corp, the paper reported.
The agreement specifies the group must honor contracts with the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League and Global Spectrum.
