Rod Stewart's penchant for kicking soccer balls at his shows is now the motivation for a lawsuit by an audience member who says it broke his nose.

One of Stewart’s signature gimmicks is to kick autographed balls at his concerts.

He is known to be a club league player and considered a professional soccer career before becoming a rock star. Mostafa Kashe, an electrical engineer, said he and his wife went to a show at Caesars Palace, where the incident allegedly took place.

His civil negligence complaint alleges that he didn’t expect to be hit in the face by a soccer ball. Kashe’s attorney said his client was treated by a hotel medic and filed an injury report with Caesars before being left with “substantial” injuries including an impaired sense of smell. Kashe seeks unspecified damages of at least $10,000 plus attorneys fees.

AEG and Caesars Entertainment are also named as defendants. A spokesman for AEG said the company does not comment on pending litigation.
