Aussie Short Notes: Lady Gaga, AC/DC
At Lady Gaga’s kickoff show in Perth, she told the audience that the tour promoter wanted her to play with a smaller production as ticket sales were down from her last visit two years ago.

On the promo tour behind a solo album, AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd insisted the veteran band will hit the road again. “There will be another tour and I will be on that,” Rudd told the Nine Network Aug. 22. “We will probably all have to be dead before it stops.”
One-time manager and tour manager Ian Smith passed Aug. 22 after a battle with cancer. Beginning as an artist manager (including hit band Australian Crawl) and involved in skill-developing associations as Ausmusic and the Victorian Rock Foundation, Smith became an event manager and producer for music, sporting and corporate events. He was tour manager at Frontier Touring and operations coordinator for New Year’s Eve at City of Sydney.
