The Czech Republic’s Rock For People Festival maintained its position as one of the old Eastern Bloc’s most successful festivals, with more than 27,000 fans per day July 4-7.

in Czech Republic.
That’s 10 percent down on last year, but the 2013 event was a record-breaker with an average of 30,000 per day on the old Soviet military base at Hradec Kralove.
Rock For People is surviving well in a difficult market, largely thanks to the number of one-day tickets it’s selling.
Only 15,000 people bought three-day festival passes, but each day saw a further 12,000 people buying one-day passes.
The acts helping the Czechs rock July 3-5 included Biffy Clyro, Madness, Chase & Status, Tom O’Dell, Manu Chao, Netsky, and The Afghan Whigs. Austrian promoter Nova Music’s Aerodrome Festival in Prague July 8 did 25,000 people.
The line-up included Metallica, Alice In Chains, and Children Of Bodom.
