Veteran Promoter Neo Sala Honored In Spain
Neo Sala, one of the professionals instrumental in building a live business in Spain, was honoured at the 6th edition of Premios Fest, the Spanish festival awards.
Sala received the Honorary Award in recognition for his career in the sector. He received the award from Albert Salmeron, president of Spain’s promoters association APM.
In charge of Doctor Music since 1982, when he founded the company, Neo Sala is positioned as one of the main representatives of the live music industry in Spain. He’s been instrumental in opening up the country to major international tours.
He talked about his beginnings in a recent interview with Pollstar, revealing that it was The Rolling Stones, who sparked his love for lives music. Sala said that without the support of promoter legend Barrie Marshall, who trusted Sala, who was in his mid-twenties, with huge names, things would have turned out differently.
Since then, REM, Tina Turner, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Bruno Mars, Whitney Housto Adele, Camila Cabello, Bruce Springsteen, Greta Van Fleet, Shawn Mendes, Rammstein, Nick Cave, Alejandro Sanz, Katy Perry, Ricky Martin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones or U2 are just some of the artists who have trusted Sala and Doctor Music as a local partner.
After almost forty years since its creation, Doctor Music, with Neo Sala up front, got acquired by German live entertainment giant CTS Eventim last year.
Doctor Music had planned to reincarnate Spain’s first rock festival, Doctor Music Festival, this summer, but had to pull the plug on the event at the eleventh hour.
