UK Ticketing Platform DICE Launches In Italy, Spain On The Radar
DICE has opened an office in Milan, Italy, partnering with Italian promoter RADAR Concert and Milan venues Magazzini Generali and Ari Ohibò.
Originally founded in London, UK, in 2014, DICE kicks things off in Italy with tickets for Ricardo Villalobos’ upcoming show at the 3,000-capacity Magazzini Generali, Sept. 27. Tickets for FKA Twigs’ Nov. 29 show at Fabrique are on sale as well.
Since 2018, it’s illegal to resell tickets for a profit in Italy, which has never stopped touts, of course.
DICE offers fans, who cannot make a gig, the option to return their tickets onto a waiting list, where other fans, who were unsuccessful in the on sale, can buy them for the original price. Tickets are animated and locked to smartphones, requiring a two-step authentication.
What is more, the DICE app features machine learning capabilities, allowing it to monitor – and possibly ban – users trying to cheat the system.
Russ Tannen, chief revenue officer at DICE, said, “DICE was founded to fix a broken ticketing system. We decided to offer an alternative – building a tout-beating platform with only fans in mind.”
He added that the plan was already coming together in Italy: “Since we went on-sale exclusively with FKA Twigs in Milan, not one single ticket has ended up on a secondary ticketing site.”
He also highlighted the discovery feature of the app, which utilizes algorithms as well as Spotify and Apple Music integration to recommend upcoming gigs and events to fans in a personalized manner.
Giorgio Riccitelli, managing director of DICE’s new exclusive partner in Italy, RADAR Concerti, commented: “We’re thrilled to be working with a company that places fans at the heart of everything it does.”
DICE has made waves internationally, launching in the U.S., France and hiring in Australia. Tannen told Pollstar that the company has set its eyes on Spain next.
