TickPick Hires Vincent David As Chief Data Officer
After raising $40 million in capital in August, TickPick has hired former American Express executive Vincent David as its Chief Data Officer.
David’s work will be to mine user-driven data and to incorporate machine learning into TickPick’s core competencies, as well as supporting marketing operations.
“Since its founding, TickPick has remained on the cutting edge of the industry — from its no-fee model which has disrupted the industry to the addition of multiple technologies that have enhanced the ticket buying experience,” David said. “Integrating data and machine learning engineering strategy into
TickPick’s already trend-setting business model will only help amplify our ability to deliver tickets to more consumers without buyer fees.”
He comes from six years at AmEx where he worked as a data scientist, engineering director and staff engineer for machine learning. During his time with the company he earned numerous awards including two Platinum Genius Awards, 2018 Chairman Award for Innovation – OneSight & Watson, and Artificial Intelligence Tools Power Global Commercial Growth. Prior to his work in the private sector he was a research scientist at Northwestern University, where he worked on machine learning and big data.
The big-name hiring comes after TickPick raised $40 million from PWP Growth Equity in August.
Founded in 2011, TickPick’s claim to fame is its elimination of buyer fees and restrictions keeping seller fees from 10 to 12 percent, meaning its own margins on each transaction are lower, but that fans always get the lowest possible price. The company announced partnerships with WE Fest in Minnesota and Riot Fest in Chicago earlier this year.
TickPick entered Pollstar’s radar when it acquired the resale platform Razorgator when that company’s owners declared financial insolvency. Tickpick also bought stake in ticket inventory aggregator Rukkus last year, which at the time of the deal claimed to have more than 300,000 customers.
