Taylor Swift kicks off her “Reputation Stadium Tour” at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., May 8.
With her Taylor Nation Twitter account boasting, “CALM ISN’T ON THE MOOD BOARD TODAY,” Taylor Swift announced this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she’ll play their summer concert series at New York’s Central Park on Aug. 22, the day before her new album, Lover, her first for Republic Records, arrives the next day.
Swift follows in the footsteps of Simon & Garfunkel, Diana Ross and Barbra Streisand, all of whom have performed in New York’s sprawling midtown park.
The promotion-savvy Swift had hinted last night about a big announcement on the morning TV show, and she delivered a blockbuster.
All the GMA concerts are free, and fans can request tickets to other dates in the series here, which includes performances by Pitbull (8/2), Keith Urban (8/9), Chance the Rapper (8/16), French Montana (8/23) and Kane Brown & Marshmello (8.30).
Swift has been involved in several controversies this summer, including seeing all her master recordings for Big Machine come under the control of Scooter Braun, which prompted a very public protest.
