What has been teased is now reality, according to a video released today announcing the Ultra Music Festival, arguably electronic music’s premier event, has moved back to its original home on Miami’s Bayfront Park for its March 2020 incarnation.
“We’re coming home,” boasted the video with the hashtag #BackToBayfront.
The city of Miami passed a resolution on June 18, giving the green light for an offer to bring Ultra back to its original location from his Virginia Key spot, which was deemed inadequate, with the festival asking to terminate its license with the city.
The event has taken place in Miami for more than two decades, starting in 1999.The festival’s one year at Virginia Beach Park and Miami Marine Stadium on the small island of Virginia Key faced logistical problems, including traffic issues on the first night.
Ultra has staged events around the world, including Mexico, South Africa, Croatia, India, China, Brazil, Peru and many other locations, including Australia, South Africa and now the U.S., and has also spawned iterations in Ibiza, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Croatia.
