Insomniac Acquires 50 Percent Of Amsterdam-Based ALDA

Insomniac announced that it has entered into a partnership with ALDA, by acquiring 50 percent of the Amsterdam, Netherlands, based electronic music promotion and production company.

ALDA is the company behind the world tours of some of electronic music’s most well-known names, such as Hardwell and Armin van Buuren. It also organizes popular events like A Day at the Park, Electronic Family, A State of Trance, The Flying Dutch and AMF festival, which is part of Amsterdam Dance Event.

Insomniac stated that it has acquired “a leader in developing, producing and promoting dance music events and experiences around the world” – which could be said about Insomniac too. 

“By aligning our businesses we can bring the world-class experiences that both Insomniac and ALDA are known for to the U.S. and exciting new places around the world,” said Insomniac founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella. 

Speaking about ALDA co-founders Allan Hardenberg and David Lewis, Rotella said: “Allan, David and the entire ALDA team are first-class event producers, and friends I’ve known for many years. We’ve wanted to work together for quite some time, so this partnership feels very natural.”

Since its foundation in LA in 1993, Insomniac has grown into a premier dance music production company that has produced more than 2,000 events, including Nocturnal Wonderland, the longest running dance music festival in the U.S., and Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), North America’s largest dance music festival, which welcomed over 400,000 attendees to Las Vegas for three days in May of this year.

The company’s international portfolio includes events in eight countries, like EDC Japan, EDC China, and EDC Mexico, which, according to Insomniac, is now the largest music event held in that country.

ALDA co-founder Allan Hardenberg commented: “We are thrilled to enter into this partnership with the Insomniac family. It has been our goal to provide dance lovers with high quality musical experiences, and Pasquale encourages this vision.”

Financials of the deal were not disclosed.

ALDA operates a joint venture with CTS Eventim’s Medusa Music Group in Germany, which won’t be affected by the deal.
