Nominees For First Music Moves Europe Talent Awards Unveiled At Reeperbahn Festival 2018

Two of Europe’s largest gatherings of music industry professionals, Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) and Reeperbahn Festival, are behind a new annual music prize that recognizes Europe’s most promising emerging artists: the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards.

24 artists in six genres are nominated. They were unveiled at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany, Sept. 21. All nominees are listed below.

An international jury of music professionals is going to select two winners from each gerne. The 12 winners will be presented at the upcoming edition of ESNS, Jan. 19, where they will also perform. What is more, they will receive a training program and financial support for touring and promotion from the EU.

The awards are presented by ESNS and Reeperbahn Festival, in cooperation with Yourope, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), independent music companies association IMPALA, International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), Liveurope, Live DMA, European Music Exporters Exchange (EMEE) and Digital Music Europe (DME).

Music Moves Europe is the name of the European Commission’s initiatives and actions in support of the European music sector. The EU’s funding program for the culture and audiovisual sectors is called Creative Europe.

The launch of the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards also saw the rebranding of the European Boarder Breaker Charts into Music Moves Europe Chart.

“Compared to Anglo-American music, the total percentage of music originating from continental Europe is relatively small. The Music Moves Europe Talent Awards are designed to accelerate the international careers of upcoming European artist,” the award announcement reads.
