Constable Tapped To Head MSG’s Government Relations And Public Affairs Division

Richard Constable has been named Madison Square Garden Company’s EVP, Global Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs, the company announced Aug. 28. He’ll serve as MSG’s chief strategist overseeing all governmental, legislative and public affairs matters companywide and report to CEO James Dolan.
“We are very pleased to welcome Richard, who brings with him decades of experience in law, government and legislative advocacy,” Dolan said in a statement. “His tremendous skills, insights and relationships will prove immediately valuable to MSG as we seek to enhance and grow our business.”
Constable will work closely with the executive management team on key corporate initiatives, strengthen MSG’s relationships with government and in the company’s marketplaces and communities. He is charged with directing MSG’s local, federal and global government relations, along with all legislative, regulatory and policy related matters for MSG’s businesses, including its collection of venues, professional sports teams and entertainment properties.
Constable will also help drive MSG’s plans to expand its venue portfolio, as well as its efforts to maximize its civic initiatives through the creation of meaningful projects and programs.

Constable comes to MSG from Wyndham Worldwide Corporation, where he was a senior VP of government relations and commercial contracts. Prior to Wyndham, Constable had several high-profile positions in government, including serving as Commissioner for the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of New Jersey’s Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and as an Assistant United States Attorney.
