Delivering a surprise performance at the 2017 CMA Music Festival at Nissan Stadium in Nashville
Garth Brooks has revealed details of his concert at Notre Dame Stadium, where he will perform the first concert ever at the hallowed football stadium Oct. 20 with tickets going on sale Sept. 14.
“Notre Dame stadium has seen so many iconic moments!” Brooks, Pollstar’s first Live Hall of Fame Inductee, said at a press conference in Nashville. “I look forward to bringing a new kind of crazy to the party.”
Presented by Amazon Music and promoted by Lon Varnell Enterprises, the show will be staged in-the-round with an eight-ticket limit per purchase. Tickets can only be purchased at ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks or Ticketmaster Express.
Brooks also announced a new live album, with a limited number of free downloads available tonight through Ticketmaster. Triple Live is three discs, a “Fan Mix” allowing listeners to adjust speaker or headphone settings, to sit in the middle of the crowd or right up on stage. The announcement promises: “THIS is INTENSE and STUPID FUN. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, it is JUST LIKE BEING AT A GARTH SHOW.”
The download code for the album will be released on Garth’s Facebook page tonight at 7:00 PM ET. Fans need to tune in to “Inside Studio G,” Garth’s weekly Facebook live series, where Brooks will reveal the download code live during the show.
Brooks has a somewhat unique relationship with Ticketmaster, as his style of going on sale is unorthodox where he will announce additional shows in each venue until everyone who wants one gets one.
Ticketmaster President Jared Smith, speaking on Garth’s keynote Q&A panel at this year’s Pollstar Live!, described the exhilarating process.
“He doesn’t say we’re going to do 11 shows in Chicago. He says we’re going to put Chicago on sale. Then we put a show on sale and when we sell it out 80 percent, we put another one on sale. And every time you can hear (promoter) Ben Farrell in the background on the call yelling, ‘Roll another one boys!’”
Brooks recently wrapped up his three-year tour with his wife Trisha Yearwood in which they sold a record-setting 6.3 million tickets. Prior to the tour, Brooks had taken 13 years away from the road to focus on his family.
Brooks’ record-setting tour was capped by seven sold-out shows at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and which the Tennessean itself cited as cause for Music City’s own-record breaking tourism numbers in 2017.
