Madison, Wis.’s Overture Center For The Arts Names Sandra Gajic As President/CEO
Overture Center For The Arts in Madison, Wis., has wrapped up its international search for a new president and CEO by hiring Sandra Gajic, effective Sept. 24.
The venue boasts seven performance spaces and five galleries, hosting national and international artists along with 10 resident companies and hundreds of local artists.
Gajic has nearly 40 years of management experience in the private and public sectors, most recently holding the position of director of Vancouver Civic Theaters since June 2014. Her previous venue experience includes CEO of the Edmonton Opera; general manager and interim CEO at Arts Common in Calgary, Alberta; and operation manager at the Canadian Opera Company.
She’s also worked in furniture manufacturing in Yugoslavia and public health administration in the United Kingdom. Gajic is taking over as president and CEO at the Overture Center following the May retirement of Ted DeDee.
“I’ve spent the past 20 years in arts and culture, most of it involving management in the performing arts,” Gajic said in a statement. “I look forward to engaging and becoming an integral part of the Madison community while bringing management cohesion to the relationship among the resident organizations and revitalizing the arts programming.”
Upcoming shows at the Overture Center include TajMo: Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’, Gordon Lightfoot, Jeff Tweedy, and Jake Shimabukuro. The venue’s 2019/2020 season will also feature the national tour of the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton.”
