“184 shows made up the official music programme that included everything from the stars of tomorrow to the biggest headliners. The Eminem show attracted the biggest show ever in front of the Orange Stage with more than 100,000 people,” a statement from the festival’s promoter’s CEO Signe Lopdrup reads.
They added that “the sound at the stages sounded better than ever before,” referring to Roskilde’s partnership with Meyer Sound to enhance the audio experience for visitors but also the festival’s own staff.
The Orange Stage is the festival’s main stage, and Gorillaz headlined it on the final night, July 7. Rapper Del The Funky Homosapien fell from the stage during the set, which caused group leader Damon Albarn to end the show prematurely.
Del The Funky Homosapien has since released a statement on social media, stating: “Thank you all for the love! I’m doing alright but will be in the hospital for a bit, the care here is outstanding though. Much love to Gorillaz for having me out and I’ll be back soon yall.”
Two women reported sexual assaults to police, according to local news reports. “One of the women is reported to have been raped after passing out following a drinking session, while the second women said she scared away two men by shouting and kicking at them, police said on Tuesday,” thelocal.dk reported.
Roskilde is a non-profit event that donates its profits to charity. Each year, offers festivalgoers to sign up for camping areas where they take special care of the community, such as Clean Out Loud and Dream City.
According to the organizers, more people than ever signed up for these camping offers, and the pictures taken immediately after they left the site are impressive, given the sight that normally presents itself after large-scale green-field events.
