Nebraska’s CenturyLink Center To Receive New Name
The Omaha, Neb., arena known as CenturyLink Center will be known as the CHI Health Center Omaha starting Sept. 1 local authorities announced June 20.
The Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority announced the new agreement, worth $23.5 million for a 20-year term, according to WOWT-TV.
“This naming right is now money that will go into improvements to maintain this facility because we’re not-for-profit so we take the monies we earn and put it right back in the facility and it will be part of our capital improvement plan because this is how it’s going to be partially funded,” MECA CEO and president Roger Dixon told the station.
CHI Health is a regional health network including 14 hospitals, two behavioral health facilities and 12,000 employees in Nebraska and Iowa. The network is part of Catholic Health Initiatives.
The 18,200-capacity venue has previously been known as Qwest Center.
