Brian Wilson and Al Jardine celebrate Pet Sounds’ 50th anniversary with a stop at Rosemont Theatre in Illinois Oct. 6.
Former Beach Boy Brian Wilson is having to push back some solo dates because of health problems, with the artist writing to fans saying he will need immediate surgery.
The postponements encompass all of his May dates, which ran from May 4 at Caesars Windsor “The Colosseum” in Windsor, Ontario to May 20 at Pompano Beach Amphitheater in Pompano Beach, Fla.
“As some of you might know I have been having some issues with my back that has very recently gotten worse,” Wilson wrote May 1. “Doctors have told me that I need to have back surgery immediately. They are optimistic that this will finally relieve the pain.”
Wilson goes on to say that his agents are in the process of rescheduling the performances, and the new dates will be announced soon.
Wilson was the creative force behind the early Beach Boys records and was named a HotStar when he returned to the road to perform his classic album Pet Sounds.
Last year, Brian Wilson’s reports were plentiful, with some highlights being a gig for 15,00 attendees at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen Denmark June 30, by far his best attended show on the year. That show translated to $251,992 grossed.
The highest grossing market appearance was two nights at Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, which earned $452,160, thanks to double sellouts at the 2,717-cap configuration.
His next scheduled date is now July 15 at Rock The Shores in Victoria, British Columbia.
