Springsteen, Lamar, Shelton Arrive On Concert Pulse

Bruce Springsteen, Kendrick Lamar and Blake Shelton have all entered Pollstar’s Global Concert Pulse chart in the Top 10 this week.

The highest new entry is the Boss at No. 2, whose Springsteen On Broadway show is doing stellar, with a $2.37 million average gross off 4,666 average tickets over 13 weeks. The average ticket price is a jaw-dropping $508.

Those shows have all taken place at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York. When he announced the Broadway run last year, Springsteen said: “I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. … I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind.” 

Kendrick Lamar, A.K.A. Kung-Fu Kenny, killed it on tour in Europe, and he enters the chart at No. 6 with 15 cities reporting. His average gross is $1.5 million and he is moving approximately 16,756 tickets per market to his shows. 

K. Dot wrapped up his Euro leg (with James Blake as support) about a week ago, and his next trek will be with his Top Dawg Entertainment labelmates on the “TDE: The Championship Tour.” That will be a verified All-Star show with Kendrick, SZA, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, and others all slated to perform together, starting May 4 in Vancouver, British Columbia’s Rogers Arena. 

Blake Shelton enters the chart at No. 10 this week, with an average gross of $961,110 in 11 cities. He was reporting an average of 12,265 tickets per market and the ticket prices averaged at $78.

Blake Shelton is already a host on “The Voice,” which is sure to keep him busy in the coming weeks, but he is still in the midst of an arena tour, with the next gig planned for Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. He is also booked at festivals like Country LakeShake in Chicago June 22; Summerfest in Milwaukee July 6; Faster Horses Country Fest in Brooklyn, Mich., July 20; Country Jam USA in Eau Claire, Wis., July 21; and Watershed Festival in George, Wash., Aug. 3.

 

There was a veritable flood of new artists throughout the chart, including Paul Weller (No. 33), Luke Combs (No. 55), “G3” (No. 56), Newsboys (No. 65), Natalia (No. 81), Judah & The Lion (No. 83), Philippe Bond (No. 87), Brett Kissel (No. 90), “Gobsmacked!” (No. 91) and Kakkmaddafakka (No. 92).
