Ed Sheeran Manager Stuart Camp Goes Independent
John Davisson – Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran makes a stop at 99.7 Now! Poptopia at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., Dec. 2.
Stuart Camp has left Elton John’s Rocket Music Entertainment after 10 years, taking his own company Grumpy Old Management with him.
Camp joined Rocket Music in 2007 after working with Atlantic Records, the label that recognized Ed Sheeran’s potential early on. While working for the Warner subsidiary, he was also instrumental in getting the career of James Blunt off the ground. He launched Grumpy Old Management in 2014 as a JV with Rocket, and there are reportedly no hard feelings involved in the split after 10 years.
“After many incredible years of working together I would like to wish a heartfelt and fond farewell to Ed, Stuart and his team, with whom we have shared some amazing moments over nearly a decade long relationship,” reads a statement from Elton John.
“It has been a very rewarding and exciting experience supporting them through their fantastic journey. We are immensely proud of all our achievements together and look forward to seeing Stu’s company and Ed’s success go from strength to strength.”
Sheeran celebrated a Top 10 tour in 2017, grossing $124 million, selling an average of 17,743 tickets and a total of more than 1.5 million, placing him on number eight on Pollstar´s Year End Top 100 Worldwide Tours 2017. Sheeran is currently number three on Pollstar’s Elite 100 Artists charts, tracking U.S. and Canada music sales and streams the week ending Feb. 1.
He is currently preparing for his BRIT Awards performance on Feb. 20, where he is also nominated for four awards with the chance of also receiving this year’s Global Success award, which is given to British artists that have enjoyed worldwide success. Come March, Sheeran will be traveling the world again, launching a 12-date Australia run with two shows at Perth Stadium in Burswood, March 2-3, before visiting New Zealand, the Philippines, Japan, and back to the UK and Ireland.
Elton John still has enough busy touring artists on his Rocket Music roster, including Rag N Bone Man and Anne-Marie. The man himself has just announced his mammoth “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, spanning more than 300 dates over three years.
